Collaboration on the map is becoming a key issue during disaster response. This collaboration is often hindered by factors as low-bandwidth, lack of preparation time and a variety of low-end platforms. We present a solution where responders can work together on a map with the help of just a browser on their laptop or tablet. Data is being stored locally and instantly replicated to other browsers, whereas a central storage is optional. New text and features on the map are shared immediately allowing for a common operational picture. Also the location of field workers is shared in real-time ensuring better guidance based on up-to-date information.

A key feature in the user interface is the linkage of textual content and objects on the map via ‘hashtags’, resulting in an intuitive connection between text and map. Objects are rendered with the help of the D3-library on top of Leaflet providing augmented visualizations like spider-diagrams, transitions and graphs.

During the presentation we will simulate a disaster situation and you are encouraged to join in with your own device.
