FOSS4G Gala Night
World Forestry Center
Thursday, 11 September, 6:00-10:00pm
The Party
Join us in the beautiful hills of NW Portland to celebrate a fantastic conference with delicious drinks, great local food, and excellent company. This year the Gala Night will be held at the spacious World Forestry Center — and may be your only chance to try your hand at smokejumping, operating a timberjack harvester, or rafting class IV rapids without getting wet.
Full conference registration* includes a Gala Night ticket, and you will receive a MAX ticket when you register — so you have no excuse not to go.
Want to bring a guest? Fantastic. Snag an extra Gala ticket for them on the main FOSS4G registration page.
*Single day and volunteer registrations will need to purchase a ticket separately.
Getting There
We recommend that you take public transportation to the gala. Please note that we will have limited alternative transportation available (but the train is faster). Gala night attendees will be given a paid ticket (for transportation to the Gala via MAX) at registration. Directions to the World Forestry Center via light rail (MAX) are below. More details on local transit can be found at http://trimet.org.
- Directly north of the Convention Center, board either the MAX Blue Line westbound towards Hillsboro or Elmonica/170th, or the MAX Red Line westbound towards Beaverton TC.
-
Get off at the Washington Park stop, which is in a tunnel augmented with geologic info and other nerdery. (Stop and take a look!) It’s the only stop underground, so you can’t miss it.
-
Take the western-most elevator to ground level (remember the train was going West!). When you exit the elevator, look across the street. That’s the gala location.
- To return to the Convention Center, board either the MAX Blue Line eastbound toward Gresham or the MAX Red Line eastbound toward the Portland Airport; get off at the Convention Center MAX stop.
