For the past several years, the Maine Office of Geographic Information Systems (MEGIS) has created and hosted GIS web services and applications using Open Source solutions. In 2013, MEGIS began evaluating migration of our services and applications to an OpenGeo Suite environment, and moving our PHP-based viewer applications to GeoExt-based ones. This presentation will discuss that process, including reasons for migration and reasons for choosing OpenGeo Suite, and R&D requirements for moving to that environment. We will also look at the new web services and applications that have been developed since we migrated, and discuss successes, limitations, and issues still to be resolved in the new environment.
